When I first began dreaming up a name for my handmade journal brand, I kept coming back to a feeling—a quiet kind of wonder. Not the big, fireworks kind of awe, but the softer moments: the hush that comes with a deep breath, the warmth of a memory tucked between pages, the way something handmade can feel like it was always meant for you.

That’s what I wanted my journals to evoke.
And that’s how Fairly Awed was born.

But if you’ve noticed that it also sounds like Fairly Odd… you’re not wrong. That part was on purpose too.

A Name with a Double Meaning

Fairly Awed is a name with two layers—one rooted in reverence, the other in honesty.

On the one hand, it speaks to the kind of beauty I aim to create: delicate, deeply felt, and a little enchanting. The kind of awe that isn’t overwhelming, but gently grounding. When someone opens one of my journals, I want them to feel a soft kind of wonder, a sense of peace and belonging.

On the other hand… well, I’ve always felt a little odd.
Not in a bad way. Just different.
Quiet in loud places. Sentimental about forgotten things. More comfortable with paper and glue than with small talk. I’ve never fit neatly into the mold—and honestly, I don’t really want to.

So Fairly Awed is also a playful nod to that truth. A gentle way of saying:
“Yes, I’m a little odd. But that oddness is where the magic lives.”

Embracing the Beautifully Unusual

I think a lot of us feel like we don’t quite fit in. Like we’re carrying stories and softness the world doesn’t always make space for. That’s why I started making journals in the first place—out of grief, illness, and the need for a safe, expressive place that didn’t ask me to be polished or perfect.

The journals I make now are extensions of that space. They’re messy, layered, soulful, and one-of-a-kind—just like the people who use them. I lean into imperfection. I welcome quirk. I follow intuition, not rules. Some of my favorite pages have come from accidents or mismatched scraps that found their place.

It’s not just about aesthetics. It’s about feeling seen in the things we create and collect.

Why the Name Matters

The name Fairly Awed represents the balance I try to bring into everything I do:

  • Awe, in the sense of wonder, beauty, and depth.

  • Odd, in the sense of authenticity, imperfection, and honest creativity.

It’s an invitation to slow down and notice small, beautiful things.
It’s a safe place for people who don’t always feel like they belong.
And it’s a reminder that “odd” isn’t a flaw—it’s often the most interesting part of who we are.

A Space for You

So if you’ve ever felt like the weird one, the quiet one, the deeply feeling one—welcome.
If you find comfort in texture, color, and storytelling . . .welcome.
If you're looking for handmade journals that speak to the soul and honor the messy, magical process of life—you’re in the right place.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Thanks for being part of the world I’m building—one beautifully odd, awe-filled page at a time.

Crafting in Chaos,
